Auxilary fans on 1992 500SL, Do they turn independantly?
Hello, I have a 1992 SL 500, and I am perplexed with the two fans in the front grill. Do they turn together, or does the second one come on when it is too hot. I cannot find this switch that I see I am suposed to everywhere. So, I really need some help.

The two fans come on together, Im not sure at what temp they come on, but as soon as the engine gets into the normal operating temp, they should come on at low speed. Turning on the A/C also has the fans running on low speed right away.
During hot days and/or in traffic, when the engine temp reaches about 100+ degrees, both fans should come on at high speed automatically. The switching of the fans from off to low to high is controlled by a sensor. It has a threaded metal body with blue plastic surrounding its terminals, its located underneath the plastic engine cover in front of the air cleaner assembly, in between the two air intake tubes.
Im sure someone here can give you more info regarding the exact temps the fans come on.
