Exclamation 1992 500SL cuts at 5000 rpm

Hey guys, I've just found out a weird problem with my 500SL. It's a 1992 euro car, still uses plug wires and caps. Does not use coils. It is still before the bad wiring harness and ETA problems. The issue is, when I am at full throttle the car cut's off at about 5000-5500 rpm. Just like the traction control kicked in. In any other situation the engine is smooth as silk, and very responsive. Seems like some kind of sensor is kicking around. I have to use less throttle so the gearbox can shift up at a lower RPM and throttle up again. This happen in either manual shift mode or auto, so gearbox is fine.

The car has 25.000 km and just did a major service with:
- Engine oil and filters
- Gearbox oil and filters
- Diff oil
- Spark plugs
- Fuel filter
- Air filter
- Crank Position Sensor (car once died while running for 30 min in Park)

Anyone has any ideia of what might cause this?

Thanks
