Long time lurker first time post

Hello everyone! I previously owned a 1995 SL500 for a few years and 2 years ago fell in love with my current 2001 SL500. I bought it with 124k on it currently has 130k. After purchasing the car I had the leather interior completely replaced to make it feel like new to me. Some bad news happened with the transmission a few months back and I recently got my car back from my Mercedes Benz certified mechanic after having to replace the transmission with a rebuilt one. Also went ahead and replaced the front suspension. All in all spent 5k to have all of this work done. Still cant wrap my head around the transmission failing so early. Especially with this one being the better and "updated" transmission. Anyone else run into this problem? Bought the car for 10k. Spent 3k for the interior and so far have put on $8500 in repairs. I'm feeling a bit torn having thrown all this money into the car and still not 100% satisfied. I dislike the wheels but cant find any monoblocks locally that fit. Long post sorry for the rant just needed a place to let it all out.

Emissions getting done after a new transmission.

Very good looking car. I’m sure you will enjoy for many years and the cost will average out to be not such a big thing.

To get such a fine car for $ 10 K is a steal in the first place.

I had heard that the drive trains are bulletproof. Never heard of any one needing to replace. So it is surprising to me that you needed a new transmission.

Did you get new leather on the steering wheel? That is all I would replace on ours ... although the Napa seat leather has a few cracks - not split open, but cracked and discoloured.

I have two sets of the wheels you seek, and I am in the Duluth area. Send an email to bobterry99@hotmail.com if you are interested.
