SL/R129: Hardtop latch issue

1995 SL500
Hardtop latch issue
When we put our hardtop on the driver side rear will latch but pop back up., any suggestions? Now it’s both tears, they are locked but there is. Gap

I've only known the rear latches to click once -- not twice.
At any rate, I would adjust the position of the latch. To do that remove the hard top, have the soft top out of its storage compartment to expose the latch, loosen the three nuts which secure the latch to the body, move the latch upward, and re-tighten the nuts.

Bob,
I put the hard top on today, it clicks down in the rear but pops back up. So it is latched but has a gap it was one side now both. I had all the cylinders replaced a few months back. Any ideas?

Your rear latch mechanisms were installed too low when they were replaced.
If you look to where the 3 bolts were ORIGINALLY located (look for original scuffs in the black paint) you might be able to locate the right position without too many adjustment trials.

Does the soft top work correctly? Do all four latches lock and no red light on the switch? If so maybe your rear latch fingers are bent if the cylinder brackets are all the way up.
