Leak behind rear tire - source?

Hi,

New owner of a SL500 90-model.
I discovered a leakage behind my rear tire. I have my suspicions of where it comes from but before I find my wrenches, do you have any suggestions?

There are two hydraulic cylinders for the soft on each side that drain behind the rear tires. Rear lock cyl and tonneau cover lift cyl. You can see which one by partially opening the top, when the tonneau cover is open you will see the leaking ones. This is an easy job for DIY. Check Top Hydraulics site for instructions and rebuild service

Yep definitely the hydraulic cylinder. If you have the time (a weekend) and money (I believe $550 rebuilt from Top Hydraulics), it's good to just get them all done.

X2 on it's time for all the cylinders to be replaced.

TH provides the best rebuilds, service and has the most knowledge.

The OP says he just got the car. It's possible that some of them have been rebuilt recently, no way of knowing but for myself after doing all 12 on my 94 at once now on the other cars I just do the leakers but for the two front locks, I would only recommend that to a DIY though. I'm just a little too old to take on the whole batch any more
