Swapping out side mirrors from the new style to the PRE 1996-97 side door mirrors????
Hey everyone,
I'm about to purchase a 2000 SL500 Black Sport with 100,000 kms in MINT condition mechanically and physically. But I have a genuine question I cannot seem to find the answer too....Can I swap out the side door mirror on the 2000 SL500 and throw on the type of side view mirrors the 1993-1992-1991 models had?
Pre facelift had more boxy square side door mirrors and they appeal to me ALOT....any help is greatly appreciated !
Folks usually go the other way (newer mirrors on older cars), so I would think you could put the older mirrors on your car.
It would most likely include the outside triangle that the mirror attaches to. Carefully pull the top of the inside trim triangle to you (gently pry behind the top with a plastic wedge) and take a picture of the 2 power connections and post here for opinions. The inside trim triangle can be easily broken, so study the removal carefully (videos and descriptions) before trying to remove.
I also thought some of the older mirrors were power retractable. My 1997 mirror is heated and self dimming like the inside mirror.
