I've been looking around for an SL500, any year 96 or newer, and had kicked some tires but not quite found the right one. I noticed an ad for this white '96, and while the online photos weren't that great, what caught my eye was that the seats were 2 tone gray.
Sure enough, when I checked the car
it has a full leather dash, door panels, roll bar, visors, center console, A pillars, etc.
While the miles were 113,000, the owner had a ton of maintenance records showing the car had been well cared for. Top works, roof is near perfect with no headliner sag and includes the stand, only problem seems to be the oil light/pressure gauge not working. Oh, and apparently the gas tank is empty when the gauge says there is a 1/4 tank!
Excited to finally be an SL owner!

Nice purchase. The car looks clean and, as you stated, appears to be well taken care of by a mindful owner. In fact, this car looks way better than some of the ones I looked at with fewer miles. Have fun with your new ride!
I checked the VIN and it has "Exclusive Leder Grau" on the build sheet.
Receipts include both bumpers being repainted with new fender liners, alternator, power steering pump, idler pulleys, climate control vacuum leak, etc.
Added bonus- 3 keys.
Use Lexol leather cleaner first and then Lexol leather conditioner.
The leather looks to be in amazing condition for a car in a tropical location with so many miles. Even the common "entry" wear point on the driver's seat seems minimal. The car obviously had a very conscientious prior owner, a fine example for us all.
Sadly, the roll bar cover is vinyl (looks pretty convincing doesn't it), but a leather one is available from topsonline.com.
Congratulations on such a nice SL. They are tough to find.
