I am a new member of the forum. I own a 1999 SL 500 Sport. I love the R129 body style and purchased mine in 2017. Since purchasing the car, I have had to replace the front bumper 2 times, the front grill and replace the wheels with the original wheels that came with the car from the factory. I am an old school guy. Wash it on Friday, drive it on Saturday, and park it until the next weekend.
Damn, what happened to the bumpers? And I hope you still have your tow hook covers still in place. They’re expensive
I have the tow hook covers. The first bumper was damaged when I purchased the car. The second was damaged when I pulled up to one of those parking stop blocks. The sport bumpers sit low so the parking stop block damaged it. I could not get the sport bumper on any of the Mercedes Benz websites. I had to go to the Mercedes Benz Classic Center to order it. Cost $2100.00, but got a discount for being a Mercedes Benz club member.

I can't seem to find those in US size. I managed to find a Euro one that fits the AMG bumper but that looks hideous on the sport SL.
I want to get a US one and modify it to fit my "Swiss Spec" front plate.

I live in Maryland and I had the bumper repaired at the Mercedes Benz body shop in Arlington, Va. I check a local body shop in the area that I had some previous work done and their estimate was the same quote.
