HAM HANDED SERVICE "TECHS"

Too car into a new independent for servicing. Now, soft top seems to me frozen up, essentially failing to move under its own power. "Tech" admitted to his boss that he topped off the soft top fluid reservoir with "hydraulic fluid" he found on lubricant cabinet. I believe he no longer is employed at the shop!

QUESTTION
Would it be possible to fill top pump reservoir and flush the hydraulic lines with a cleaning fluid, or perhaps with MB top hydraulic fluid?

In advance, thank you for your time!

I highly doubt that is the reason for your soft issue.

Make them flush out the fluid with the genuine 343 fluid and run a free scan of your soft top if thy have star. Otherwise find a place that's competent and has star and make the crappy shop pay for it

The correct 'top fluid' is petroleum based. The viscosity may not be appropriate---the top fluid is very thin.
That the system needed fluid means it is/was leaking somewhere.
