Very rough idle at startup SL320
I am experiencing a very rough idle after starting.It feels like the engine wants to die but manages to keep going.Idle RPMs are between 500-700 and changes continuously.The car seems to run smoothly in 3rd and 4th gears at 30mph and up.But when I stop at a stop sign,the rough idle returns again.I find myself putting the SL 320 into neutral and reving the engine to 2000RPM.
There doesn't seem to be any smoke or smells out of the ordinary.A mercedes engine should run smoothly and have lots of power I thought.My Sl320 has 91,000 miles.

Could be anything - burned out spark plugs, dirty fuel, or else something in the engine management chain like a faulty sensor. It's not good to rev the engine at 2k rpm and then put it into drive, so I' get it into a workshop who know what they are doing right away.

1995 SL 320
I ended up buying new spark plugs and wires from the dealership for $150 and doing a tuneup at home.It was easy about 1 hour total.I replaced my air filter,fuel filter,and now it runs perfect.Use only the original spark plugs.Aftermarket plugs do not work correctly.
