Does anyone know what the dark gold vacuum line controls that is attached to the blend box above the central vents? It is disconnected on the right. The left side attaches to a black rummer hose that leads under the steering wheel.

I don’t know whether you ever figured this out, but I’m pretty sure that vacuum line is for the lock on the eyeglass case.
Bumping this as I have the same problem. Mine is disconnected behind the vents on my 2000 SL. My vents work but my central locking does not and I hear a loud hissing noise when I’m driving inside the cabin coming from the center vents
