The soft top on our 99 SL500 works flawlessly. Recently we purchased a hardtop for it. The top will latch down, but it won't unlatch (actually the right front latch on the windshield needs one small tweak with the wrench and then everything is fine. The rear latches work fine (sidenote; we recently replaced the right rear tonneau latch because it had developed a leak). after the hardtop has latched itself down using the power top switch on the console, the top will not unlatch using the switch. We can manually unlatch the top but that defeats the purpose of the hydraulic latching/unlatching.

Any suggestions/recommendations would be appreciated.

I hope this doesn't sound dumb but the engine cant be running when unlatching hard top, key is in second position with engine off>
