SL/R129: ETS/ABS top operation question...

‘94 S500, ‘95 SL320, ‘96 E320, '00 CL500, ‘05 Ford Explorer, '12 S550 4Matic
ETS/ABS top operation question...

The ABS/ETS lights are on in my '95 SL320 and the top isn't working. Neither is the cruise control. The rollbar works perfectly and the top will "pull down" at the rear after I close it manually. I have no leaks from any of the cylinders. I checked the codes and get one for a "faulty limit switch." Should I concentrate on curing the ABS/ETS lights first before tearing into the limit switch issue? Is there a correlation between the lights and the top not working? Are the two systems interactive?

I did the "blink codes" and got one for a "rear axle speed sensor." On later 129's, it appears that's located on the side of the differential but I've looked all over mine and can't find it. I'm beginning to wonder if my "axle speed sensor" is mounted instead on the back of the axle itself and not the diff. I believe I do have an "ABS sensor" on the axle and am wondering if that's what the code is referring to. I had an unwelcome chance to check my ABS system last week when some idiot in a pickup turned in front of me causing a panic stop and, yeah, the brakes locked up so I don't think the ABS is working as it should. I'll swap out the rear sensor as soon as it gets here.

I guess the good news is the ABS/ETS lights don't impact top operation. If it's a simple matter of R&Ring the limit switch, I'll get on that as well.
