SL/R129: R129 questions: radio, rear window defroster, steering column cowl
1. The receptical for the rear window defroster plug is damaged. No explanation how this occurred, but the receptical attached to the area of the door jamb, appears to need to be replaced. Any tips for completing this repair? The other matter that stands out about this feature is that the wiring harness outer sheath is frayed, the wires appear to be intact.
2. I call it a cowl, not sure what MB calls it, but the sleeve that fits around the column to which the steering wheel is affixed, moves when the turn signal is used. This also affects the cruise control stem. What explains this movement, and how is it repaired/fixed?
3. The radio is dead. No sound, no pixels on its screen. Looked in the storage space located in the space behind the driver's seat, and found the amplifier and also a white junction box that is obviously not OEM as it appears to support a tablet or smartphone app. The former owner (deceased and not able to speak for him self) I assume abandoned use of the radio for broadcast reception and opt for the use of a more current technology for tunes, by using this junction box for connectivity to the OEM sound system. What my friend would like to do is reconnect the cable to the OEM amplifier but he has not found where the plug is located. Any assistance would be appreciated.
TIA
