R129 Top Control Module Rebuild
Hello,
Having issues with my '97 r129 Top control module (part # 129 820 31 26). Soft top will not operate whatsoever and same with roll bar stuck in UP position. Both switches are illuminated red, I have tried resetting them multiple times. Removing battery. Checking Fuse, Etc.. I have read that the controllers can become corrupt due to jump starting the car, and the individual I bought from did state that this issue began after they did a jump start. Seller did take to a MBZ dealer who ran diagnostics and found there were internal faults with the module, and that the Control Unit dropped communication with the diagnostic equipment several times. Faults were either unable to be cleared or they came right back up.
I have searched threads here as well as google about replacement and/or rebuilding. It seems that BBA is out of business (seized by county sheriff) and other repair centers have stated they no longer work on the part or they are unable to be reached at all. Anybody have any luck recently with another vendor or anyone have any other advice on which avenues to look down next? Thank you!
