Check your spare tire!
I just checked my spare tire and lo and behold....the p.s.i. was 15 lbs! I strongly urge everyone to take a look at yours. Not wanting to sound like your mother, and even though the spare is hardly, if ever, used, it's smart and safe to have it ready to go if needed. Happy motoring!

I would think equally important, beyond psi, is the expiry date of these tires? Wouldn’t some people be running 25+ year spares, I thought tires generally last 7-10 years or is this not an issue for short duration use?
I carry one of those portable rechargers air compressors… very handy to have around for top ups or situations like this, and they are small enough that they can just tuck in anywhere in the trunk/boot beside the tire.

Something else to be aware - especially those wearing aftermarket wheels... carry a set of original lug bolts.
Your lug bolts for your aftermarket wheels might not be long enough to secure the spare.

Was cleaning up the car after winter storage and happened to check the spare tire, 6 PSI was all there was. Brought it up to 35psi. Yes the spare is usually a neglected item. Thanks for the reminders although a few days late.

I just had all that happen at the Atlanta airport. 1 flat and the spare did not fit due to the lug nuts. Was told the flat was 20 years old and had them check the other tires and another one was over 20 years old. 1 flat, 2 ancient tires, and a spare that the lug nuts were too short for.
