1993 600SL with ASR light

So I have the ASR light on and the car is in "limp mode". As per the "professionals", I checked the wiring on the throttle body actuators and as expected the insulation is severely deteriorated. I purchased two rebuilt actuators from Don R. at RFC Electronics out in Alabama and installed them. I still have the ASR light and the car is still in "limp mode". Iv'e seen too many people spending copious amounts of money on these forums changing brake light switches, etc. to no avail. The rest of the engine harness is fine. No other deteriorated insulation. Who actually knows what the real problem is? E-gas module??? Something else? I really don't need this large of a paperweight taking up space in my garage!
