Infrared FOBS Et Al
My SL Is a 10/93 build. AFAIK it has no DAS per the 2008 MB Technical Bulletin recapping the history of MB DAS.
I have an original master key.
it does have the N54 infrared central locking system and associated vacuum pump. It has the optional ATA system that is functioning with manual locking with the master key.
like many on this forum, the IR key fobs failed/disappeared long ago. However I am in possession of 9 fobs with working IR chips (defined as the red LED illuminates if the button is depressed for 1 or more seconds.
The 2008 TSB alludes to use of the Star Diagnostic tool or HHT to program/code a replacement FOB to the N54 IRLS receiver.
Does anybody know if this is correct? If correct, is this for any other working IR FOB or only 1 sourced from a dealer (unavailable) matched to the VIN
if true, any USA shops/indies/locksmiths that can program this.
