I would create your own post for this. I'm guessing it will be a long one.
Not owning a W129 ever, I can still tell you that the wire you have there is not a factory wiring. So I'm not sure if people here can help you with that. Pretty much anything with zip ties and not protected by automotive insulation (black) under the hood would be an aftermarket addition.

- Cheers!

Greetings. Looks great. Any chance you could explain/give me some tips on removing my 2001 SL500 R129 headliner from the roof? I got the handles and fabric off but now am stuck/confused on how to remove the actual piece of fiberglass panel. Do I need to take out all the screws holding the trim near the rear window and remove the plastic "pillars?" Thanks.

Outstanding work

We do a lot of R129 restoration work here. My personal choice would have been a 97-98 SL500. What made you choose a 91?
Also if you have any hard to find parts you can reach out to my son on ebay “thebenzgarage” ok good luck and again outstanding work!!!

Had the SL registered and made its first real drive. Now with suspension bushings replaced and lowered on 18" I really like how it drives.

Also made custom license plate filler for a bit better european license plate fitment

Had it detailed and ceramic coated + roof impregnated

Thanks!

First reason that I choose 91 is that 30+ years old cars don't have vat and dmv duties when importing them to Europe from USA (no import costs since it has oldtimer status only 7-8% customs), they don't require any modifications to make them european (lights, blinkers, fog lights and sometimes speedometer as well to show only km and km/h).

Second I like it more due to a bit more old school 90s look (resembles SEC for me - hopefully my next Mercedes).

Saved your son on ebay for future purchases.

I always like the looks of the SEC. One of my favorites was my E320 Cabrolet, White with blue top and interior. You really did some beautiful restoration work on your SL.. and great pics also.

What do you mean by A-arms? This?
I have replaced all bushings here… took out old bushings and pressed in new ones.

Differential bushings, frame bushings and flex discs I bought but I was lazy and did not replace them (I did eye inspection).
Hi great thread was wondering when you installed the front control arm bushings is their a specific orientaorient that the bushing goes in. I noticed it is kind of an oval shape with flats and these dots on the bushing. Clicked in after I did one side that it may have an orientation to set the camber?
