I just bought a 1992 SL 300-24 , I got it for a fair price but it isn't in very good conditions, it was abandoned for years by the old owner, the car was not even locked.
I have a question, the old owner gave me two simple keys with the car, no remote controls. One key operates the ignition block and the other operates the central console compartment lock, those keys not operate anything else than the things mentioned and for this reason I'm not able to open the trunk in order to replace the battery, the things I tried it was with a battery connected to the plus terminal under the hood but the old battery drains the donor one very quickly.
With the donor battery plugged I tried to operate the central console lock and when I lock I can hear the vacuum pump running for 2-3secs but when I unlock it unlocks only the central lock compartment and nothing else, the same happens if I operate the drivers door switch but not with the passenger one.
I wanted to mention also that with the ignition on I was able to lower the soft roof top and so now it is closed.
I'm wondering if there is a method with limited damage to unlock the trunk in order to change battery, start the car and then replacing the probably faulty PSE pump.
Can someone give me some help or hints to resolve my problems? Thank you in advance

You know the trunk opens by pushing, not turning the lock? 🙂

It helps, if you can look at an other R129 to exercise, but this will work without damaging anything. Step one: Unscrew license plate light.
