Replacing R129 torque converter

Howdy R129 community.
I am about half way in getting my 92’ 300SL back on the road. Last replacement the car needs is the torque converter (car failed to shift into gears, first it was Reverse- then Drive gears stopped working). Based on research and the previous owners assumptions I targeted the torque converter to be the source of the issue. I will be very clear here; I am an absolute cheap scape and will teach myself whatever i need to to fix a car, one area I have yet to work on is transmissions;
Basically my question today is if anybody who has experience removing the DOHC M104 inline-six SL class transmissions, better yet the torque converter and what important steps need to be approached before dropping the transmission. I got the car on jacks and my buddy is on standby with his transmission jack. Any help would be appreciated.
