M119 metal camshaft oilers

Hello
Reading a sale write up on BAT for a 96 S500. One of the selling points was that the plastic camshaft oilers were replaced with aluminum/metal camshaft oilers. 16 each approx 20.00 each plus ancillary washers, valve cover gaskets etc
Is this something we should consider doing for preventive maintenance or is this a luxury for owners with time on their hands?? Food for thought!!!

They don't break as often as you might think when you read online forums. I've had one (1) broken oil bridge for more than 10 years, in my opinion it's a waste of money.

If so. there is no oil pressure on the associated bucket tappet, and you can hear a very loud ticking noise. It sounds scary, like an engine failure.

oilers

My advice is to leave well enough alone UNTIL the loud ticking happens than replace all of them with either aftermarket alum or older Mercedes alum that have been cleaned well.. while you are in there also do the chain guides and might as well do spark plugs if they are close to mileage time. I have put many miles on a few R129’s and only did 1 set of oilers … good all day project . We usually have 1 set in stock for replacements
ebay store R129 specialists “thebenzgarage” thanks Bill ( my son runs his ebay store Will)
