Mercedes SL 300-24 1992, manual transmission
Roof mechanism
I have a Mercedes R129 SL300-24 from 1992.
The car have some problems with the roof and it won't go up or down. If I take it to a mechanic will they be able to diagnose it and how much should I expect it to cost or how many hours would it take?
I think it's the hydraulic valve block solenoid on the right side. If it is broken how long would it take to fix and how much can I expect to pay.
Thanks in advance

You would have to take it to someone with experience diagnosing the roof system, so ask if they have experience.
So many things can go wrong with the roof system (it's pretty complex). Even the items you suspect can be only a part of the overall issue.
Which is to say, it won't be easy getting a definitive cost answer from anyone (not that you shouldn't ask). And if anyone would offer a hard cost, I would be very suspicious.
The Top Hydraulics website is an excellent source for getting familiar with the system and its various parts. After getting a grasp of the system, you would be better prepared to ask specific questions of any potential repair shop.
Or do a search here or the other MB website and follow those folks journeys.
