New to R129 - could do with your help!

Hi all

Im in UK and have just bought a cheap R129 project

The car is a 1995 with the 38 pin diagnostics

Hood function is inoperative. Roll bar works as it should on the dash button. Windows seem to work sporadically bit the window drop feature when you open the doors doesnt work at all. The windows dont drop.

I currently have the hard top fitted which i took off to inspect hood manually. Used the tool.to take off and on.

With the hard top.on, when i push the switch forward the front locks pull the top down further.

However when i pull back the switch to remove softtop nothing happens..red button flashes red, windows dont move no noises .

Ive made up a flash unit for the 38 pin diagnostics. Pins 1, 3 and 21 for the soft top control

I get 2 codes

Code 2 - low voltage (battery is fine)

Code 4 - i think this is a speed sensor fault.???.would that stop ths windows going down and everything operating?
How do i know which speed sensor?

Help please guys!!

Thanks

Simon

Soft top and roof: back to basics - sorry, but you need to have the car in neutral and a foot on the brake pedal. It also helps to have the engine running when opening and closing the soft top (This might solve your Code 2 error). I had a similar problem years ago and the controller box (behind the passenger seat) may need reseating - just take it out and push it back in again. If not good it may need repairing in which case try Autotronics in Leicester.
The soft close on the windows will probably need to be reset if you have had problems with the roof, so if I remember correctly close both windows and hold down the button when they at the top of their travel for a count of five. (Sorry if a bit vague but I last did mine several years ago!)
These cars need excercise - it left in a garage for long periods you can get the sort of problems you have found. Due to circumstances mine does not get used enough and always takes a few tries to get things like the roof to settle down. Yours looks immaculate so maybe I'm jumping to conclusions!
