R129 rear top locks stucked in lock position

Hi everyone,

I own a SL500 1997. The top will not open when engaging the convertible red control nor the roll bar. Nothing is happening when lifting the control up or down. The red control flashes red as is the roll bar control key. So I have removed the hard top manualy following the procedure. I would like to put the hard top on again since I cant seem to identify the problem myself. But the rear top locks are stock in locked position and I can't open them following the manual precedure. How can I open the locks so I can put on the hard top.

Thank you!

You should get a notebook and start reading and taking notes. For people that have been working on Soft top hydraulics they understand there are many steps and no easy “ you need to do this”. There are many steps involved, pressure needs to be released and the cycle has to be finished to move on etc etc.
My best advice will be :
Go to this posting and start printing out pages for your notebook.
My son has a R129 parts and refurb business . When he first got started he built a notebook of valuable hydraulic and cycle info. Good luck and start here:
