Strange air pipes

Hi. I found some strange car for sale. It has some badges of AMG version but it’s SL500 with m113 engine. It also has some kind of chargers / turbo under the hood. All AMG versions of r129 were naturally aspired so I guess it’s an aftermarket mod. Can anyone tell me if these modifications are safe and work?

You are right. AMG didn't make a supercharged version of the R129, but Kleemann did as did a few others.

Do you have a picture of the engine without the engine cover?

I'm not a fan of R129 under the hood aftermarket air cleaners as the stock design ran the inlets to cool outside air. Drawing fresh air from under the hood is not a performance modification.
