R129: Electrical diagram wanted (1993 300SL)
The interior (footwell) lights illuminate when the passenger door is opened, but not when the driver's door is opened. I replaced the plunger switch but that didn't fix the problem. I should have removed the switch and tested it first (old switch is fine), but I thought it was swapped from the backside so would be a chore removing interior panels... so I ordered the switch first and thought later. Turns out the switch pops out from the front and is a 5' job. Shorting the wires together confirmed the switch wasn't the issue.
The interior light on the driver's side isn't physically far away, but tracing the wires is pretty tough. I'd sure like to have an electrical diagram to see opportunities for where a wire got broken. I saw that there appears to be aftermarket stereo wiring, so maybe something got disconnected when they ran the wires from the replacement head unit to what I presume are speaker upgrades in the door (the grills are stock).
In any event, I'd like to fix this little gremlin, but the footwell is really tough to work in and the garage is hot as Hades, so having a clear checklist where to check and what would be mo' beta.
Vielen dank!
