Hi, I have a 96 R129. Coming out of winter storage, the door lock fail to open or close from the key fob button. I changed the FOB batteries. The lights on the rear view mirror light when pressing the fob, but no locks. Also, I can lock all the locks manually by insertying the key in the door lock.

Any ideas what to check?

 

You have tried to synchronize the central locking system? Page 127: r129-owners-manual-1996.pdf

I found the synch steps and tried it. Still cant lock from FOB. the lights on mirror flash from red to green. Locks work when selecting manual switch on dash and when locking with key in door.

 

Ok. You still have both remotes and both behave the same way? If all your fuses are checked too my next step would be reading the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).

 

Hi, both remotes work the same way ( the remotes will toggle the mirror lights from red to green. I ran the diagnostic codes and nothing pops up. I do notice that not only do the locks not work from the fob, but the doors lock on their on after you close the door.
