SL/R129: Wiper issue
Wiper issue
I did a search for this issue but not seeing a thread. I had a couple issues with my wiper (1991 SL500). The second issue I just fixed. The gear teeth were stripped causing the wiper to extend/retract at the wrong times.
now I’m back to the first issue. A)The wiper pauses at random spots while in the mist mode and B)Does not return to the home position when the wiper is shut off. It takes several attempts at shutting it off to get it to stop in the correct position. Thoughts?

I’m thinking now after reading on other sites the K26 relay?
I agree the K26 multifunction relay is a suspect. I had similar issues (monoblade wiper stopping randomly) and cleaned the relay contacts with emery paper; it has been working fine over a decade now. Prices of new relays tend to be insane.
As I recall it is attached with a screw, sealed with silicone and not built to be opened (but after all the years I cannot recall for sure).

Dont know if i understand right. As i remember right, the relaybox is fastened with one screw and has to be opened to resolder the broken parts. They are hardly visible for untrained eyes, simply resolder the big spots where the conectors touch the electronic. an other relay is as old as yours, so replacing it with a used one is no option.
