hello everyone! I recently purchased a 1992 500 SL and I am stumped on how I can fix the rollbar. The issue that I experience is that the roll bar moves up and down as it should but immediately whenever the robot bar leaves it’s up position it starts beeping and will not stop. I have tried reading the codes, and got no response from the dashboard light or the switch light. The LED on my homemade reader lights up immediately when plugging it into the port and will not go out or blink. I’ve tried various combinations of holding down the window switches and the rollbar switch, and the roof switch, resetting various modules by shorting their respective pins to ground and nothing to seems to change this behavior. Without the help of the codes, I’m not sure where I should start. Does anyone have any ideas?

 

What diagnostic ports do you try read? In the 16-pole diagnostic socket RB is #7 and 38 pole #22.

 

From what I understand the only socket my car has is the 16-pole socket. I read #7, I also read the socket for the softtop and that was able to respond.
