Age 67. My 4th SL ranging from 87 to current 09. Always a Sunday driver. This 09 had 30,000 miles when I bought it last October. One owner (a gal) - delivered new in Oklahoma and she moved to Scottsdale in 2017. MBZ dealership serviced since new. Rash on 3 wheels and scratched up shin spoiler both corrected. I'll throw my hat in the ring for the oldest owner/driver. I bought our Firemist Red 2003 SL55 from an internet acquaintance in Utah in 2014. He and I had become acquainted via the Porsche 928 internet Forum (we both owned Porsche 928 GTS's). I'm the third owner, and it now has 56K miles
I'm NOW 3 months short of my 84th birthday. I drove this R230 for 3 days at a Watkins Glen track event sponsored by a Porsche region in 2014 - age 77 (had driven that track thousands of laps in my 928 S4). I do nearly all my own service and maintenance (have a hobby garage with a 2 post lift). Installed smaller SC pulley and re-flashed ECU with upgrade shortly after I purchased the car. Just a 'bit more' whiplash when I push on the loud pedal!! (DON'T ask why a 77 - 83+ year old needs 550 ft lbs of torque and 500+ HP!).
Second SL I've owned, first was a 1973 450 SL, bought in 1979 which left for it's 3rd owner in 2012.
SO GLAD all you ''young'uns' are helping keep the automotive hobby alive. Ha.

Gary and I go back to our Porsche 928 days. I love the convertible vario roof of R 230 SL's , I have an 07 S65 AMG, 07 SL550 (White) and an SL55 AMG with the P30 option, like Gary with 2 lifts I do all my own work.
My SL55-P30 is one out of 40 imported with the P30 option and out of the 40 mine is the only one in the Teal color.
As much I love that car I'm now considering to sell it!- Why? Well at 75 I just bought a 2017 AMG GTS - I'll keep the white SL550 for whenever I want to drive a convertible.

46 here. First Merc -- an AMG badged C300 (yeah, appearance package only) -- was 2 years ago. Gotta love company leases. Decided to take the plunge on a personal car and picked up a 2011 SL550 Night Edition and absolutely in love with it. I can't imagine not owning a Merc now.

66 here. Just (in Oct 2021) bought a 2004 SL600 with only 22,000 miles with two previous owners. Everything in tip-top condition. Already installed Apple CarPlay, deleted the Cats and installed the Stage 2 tune from OE Tuning. Just a nice weather cruiser and DD. Hopefully there will be some good weather here in Michigan before winter really settles in. Well equipped and experienced to so all my own work and mods. Planning to replace parts of the ABC system and rubber parts as preventative measures. As bought from the BMW/Mercedes dealer. CarPlay is installed and working well Waiting in the garage for good weather.

Well I am amazed at you youngsters! That is awesome you can buy such impressive cars at such a young age! Kudos to you all. I am 62, and my 2004 SL55 AMG is my first AMG, I own a BMW M6 also. I got into fast cars in the last couple years! I owned a 500SL convertible about 15 years ago when I was a part owner and COO of an Investment Banking firm, and loved it, but it was not nearly as fast and as fun to drive as my SL55 is or my M6. Before that it was Mustangs and Camaros , pick ups, and 4x4’s like Broncos and Blazers. But they were all bought on credit. I am really impressed that a lot of you younger guys bought your AMG’s with all cash,like I just bought mine and my M6, but I am an ex-investment banker who saved and invested. It is really amazing that you can afford to buy a MB AMG with all cash at your age, I am very impressed! So again. Kudos to you!
