I just hate the burl walnut interior wood that comes with most SLs and i was wondering what my options are since i am interested in purchasing a new '06 SL500. Does Black ash interior wood come as an option with charcoal or Black nappa leather from the dealer? Or do i need to purchase the black ash wood separately and install it myself?
I especially like the black ash wood on LovinSL600s car

One of the European members commented on this question earlier...they said it is an option you can request, but most dealers here don't know how...if you wait maybe they'll answer again...It might have been BlueSL, but I'm not sure. Do a search on this forum and see if you can find the thread again. He even knew the code for it. He made a point of it suggesting that Lovin might have saved some money at ordering stage...although it all seems for naught now that he's sellin....maybe you could buy his?

In Europe it is an option yes.

I live in Sweden and here you can order the SL wih 3 different choices of interior. I know the same options are available in Denmark and Germany.

I don't know this for sure but I am being told that for 2006 it is possible that you are going to be able to order any wood with any interior as well in the USA.

The ordering guildlines for 2006 should be out any day now and we will know for sure then.

I hope that is true, because when I order my 2006 SL500 I would like the interior to look much like your interior LovinSL600 with black nappa and black ash wood. When you hear the ordering guidelines have been released, please post here.

The three black birdseye maple pieces are: $1280 for the center, and $280 EACH for the doors.
