I have been hearing from this board that there will be a facelift in 2007 for the SL what kind of Facelift if any of you know will the front look more like a CLS?

I don't know for sure, but probably next month.

All quite modest and confined to the parts of the car which are easy to update, lights, bumper covers. No new crash testing/homologation required.

This is not the 2006 Sl, its going to be a mid 2006 release as an 2007. It will have the new V8 too...

Are you saying that the 2006's that are coming shortly are not going to have any of the changes in the pictures with the front bumper and rear lights?

No they are not supposed to ... I am taking the word of my dealer.. who is a close personal friend.
He said the 07 SL will get the new motor, updated bumpers and grill
Its supposed to be released mid 06...
The 06's are getting Sirius for free, he said MB always "gives" something away just before the model undergoes a change. Much like all the 2006 S classes getting "free" sport packages.
The euro "Mercedes" mag confirms all the changes including the motor and says a mid 06 release.

Mercedes have just revealed details of the new S Class. Among the first models is the new 500 which will have a 388 bhp engine and it seems likely that will make it into the SL in due course.

Wow, 388? The 5.4 L AMG engine (a la SLK55, CLK55, C55) has less hp than a non-amg engine! I guess they will have to be upgraded to the 6.3 L V8?

It's a useful bhp hike for the normally aspirated engine, so you can expect the AMG engines to move up in proportion.

Sl55 is going N/A, no more superchargers in any of the "55"s.

Sl600 is to remain unchanged.

I imagine they're going back to 32 valve engines which explains the horsepower gains. These twin spark engines (which seemingly were introduced to reduce emissions) have been a debacle from a performance and horsepower standpoint.
