I was coming home from Atlantic City about an hour ago on the Garden State Pkwy doing about 85mph in my SC430. I saw some low, wide xenons creeping up behind me, pacing me. I said "This has got to be a SL500, our cars are about equal, let's have some fun" WRONG This happened to be an SL600 and I had no clue but found out very, very quickly In the time it took me to get to 105mph he was already at 145mph and way ahead of me...this was like 3 seconds!!! The car made the most amazing sound when it shot past me, I'm guessing it was his turbo's spooling? Anyone know a silver SL600 w/ NY Tags heading to Staten Island/Brooklyn?

I have a 04 SL600 and it is one of the fastest stock production cars I have ever owned. When you put the hammer down it feels like the engine wants to pull out of the car and go on ahead. All this with the beautiful fit and finish one comes to expect from MB. OH, and smooth. When you are charging down the road at 100+ its is turbine like smooth in the car and relatively quiet! What a combination!!

The Sl600 has a very sweet motor.. It pulls smoothly and very hard..

I couldnt amagine the 600 . The 500 "pulls smoothly and very hard" to me Guess I'm just easy to please

this is why i have the good fortune to own a 600. when my wife told me she wanted a 500 for a new car, i test drove one. i was very disappointed. it didn't feel any faster than my ls430 or xk8 jag. for a 100 grand, i wanted a big difference. once i started researchig and coming to boards like this, i knew it would be a 55, 600, or 65. in the end the 600 was the best of all choices. it has the awesome smooth ride and luxury that my wife loves. but i can play with it anytime. she also has taken a liking to the incredible speed on demand. once again, thanks to all who contribute to this board. it helped me make a great decsion.
