SL 350, NOTHING NEW FOR BENZ
Mercedes has always had a smaller engine ( 6 ) in the SL....the 450 SL of the 70s had the 280, the 500 SL in the 90s had a 280 and a 300. Why would this model be any different. The 300 SL did not sell very well here in the USA during 1990-1994 and I would dought if you saw the new SL 350 here in the states..I could be wrong since Lexus will have a SC 330 here in a few months.

The reason cars like like the past SL320's and S320's didn't sell well is becasue the engine is too weak to propel such a heavy car. Only V-8's and above are adequate.

Point well taken, Its like having a 30 foot boat with a 120HP engine, who would want that?

I think there are alot of people out there where gas prices are three to four times what they are in the US that want the luxury of the SL but are not interested in fuel premiums they would have to pay with the V8...we in the US are lucky we are not confronted with this decision.

I don't think the cost of gas figures on most SL owner's radar. Depreciation is the killer which gets you in the end and the SL320 depreciated less than the SL500.
