The salesman was telling me otherwise....

Thanks for that piece of info.

Salesman

I would get a new salesman if he doesn't know that I wouldn't believe anything else he says.

It's not the sport package. Maybe the tires are overinflated, or maybe something's broken. If it's not something wrong with the way the car is set up, I think the SL is just not for you. I happen to think the SL500 is sprung way too soft, but it's clearly a matter of taste, and if you want more of a cushy boulevard cruiser, that's what you should buy.

Urgh..don't say that...you've just read my mind :-) The car seemed fine...I should at least assume that much. But you're right...the thought that the SL may not be for me did cross my mind (which surprised my girlfriend a bit)...and I took another look at the car....and I'm still undecided. (It's so darn sexy) So I'm going to tentatively consider the car for now...take another drive maybe...do some research here and whatever I can find and then decide... Meanwhile...hope you folks don't mind me shooting out some questions...now and then. (be warned some questions may seem wierd, but are important to me)

So I have determined that if I do get the SL, then I should wait till the 2007's are introduced. (New engine as I understand) Should I make any considerations since its a 1st gen. new engine?

Can anyone here tell me more about the 'collapsible spare tire?' Take some pics? Seems the spare tire system also includes a portable air pump? ...interesting. The thought of asking this during the test drive did not occur, until just now. Thxs.

I really wanted to try the SLK 55...the salesman laughed at me...and said around these parts of the country the SLK55 is a 1 year wait...that's nuts. Sounds to me they don't even care to sell the car at that...

Being an AMG car, I'll bet the SLK 55 is sprung more stiffly than the SL500. Not the direction you want to go.
