Bentley Arnage Red Label
I just got home from my Bentley dealer and a guy was trading in a Cont. Gt and an 05 Vanquish S for a Flying Spur and an SL65. I am going to take the Vanquish for a spin to see if the car drives as nice as it sounds after they finish up their deal. Look forward to it.

I know what you mean with respect to old worn seats and I understand the picture kind of looks like that. It is the light reflection off the grain. The seats are perfect in person.
I spent a lot of time on the SL600 pictures getting rid of things like this in a software program. I was too lazy this time.

Note sure of exactly how much the maintenance costs will be on the Aston Martin. I can guess, "not pretty" but that is what you come to expect with these cars.

The Vanquish S is the only Aston Martin that is still being built in the Newport Pagnell factory, the factory that many of the old cars were built in.
The only thing that I am aware of that is not built in Newport Pagnell is the engine. A few years ago Aston Martin bought an engine factory in Germany however I was assured they were being handbuilt and assembled in Germany and shipped into Newport Pagnell.
There is nothing that I am aware of that is not handbuilt. As a matter of fact I have pictures of my car in many of the stations where it was being handbuilt.

Modern Astons are still hand assembled, but not hand built.

Wonder where the cut off is between hand built and hand assembled? For instance, I know the body panels are first stampted but then hand finished. What would that be called?

Wow...what an amazing piece of art. It may not be the fastest, quickest or most powerful car...but the Vanquish S is certainly one of the most beautiful and desirable machines ever made (including hand assembled/built/caesarian/naturally birthed or whatever)!
Congratulations...and enjoy it in good health!

center consolve
In viewing a black Vanquish S at my local dealer I noticed that it had the console upgrade just before yours (essentially leather wrapped). The newer S' (yours) have a different console, ala DB9-esque. How do you like the new console? Was there an option of metal finish (your pics show a bronzish/dark silver)? Simply trying to get your impressions of the new console, e.g. looks, fit, finish, functionality, etc. Many thanks. BTW, stunningly beautiful car.

WOW! OH MY GOSH THAT CAR IS HOT!!!!! I WISH I HAD ONE> LOOKS SO SLEEK IN THAT COLOR> Although I am a little disappointed in the interior on such an expensive car, a bit dull in my opinion. Nonetheless hot badboy, that thing must be a freakin rocket.

It was truly a great surprise. Functionality was much improved with new features like Bluetooth, voice recognition and a full DVD navigation screen. Secondly, in the 2006 they went to the MHOST system and a new fiber optic stereo system so the sound is much improved.
The center console is platinum just like the DB9. It matches the platinum finish on the door and other features. The color you are seeing is just as a result of the poor picture quality. (Sorry)
Best of all, the center console now looks totally updated and is consistent with the rest of the car.
The only thing I just can not believe they left out is the HID/Xenon headlamps. At night time, it really makes a difference.
Hope this answers your questions.

acceleration of the mighty panzer has the british tank just a little out gunned and without the limiter should be able to about match it's speed, 007 would be in a little trouble

Shortly after I bought the SL600 I went to an Aston Martin dealer retreat in Napa to show the salesman how my SL600 was going to destroy the Vanquish. It didn't.
The SL600 is very fast and a ton of fun to drive but have never gotten the feeling that I would be scared. It never accelerated fast enough to feel that way. In the Vanquish S, you better know what you are doing. Its power is scary and you feel you can loose control because of the speed despite the better suspension and handling.
Not taking away anything from the SL600 because I loved my SL600's performance. I hated to sell that car but I just could not handle MB anymore. If I knew the SL600 would not have defects and MB was a different company, I'd buy another one in a second.
Given the choice, there just is no comparison. They are truly different cars and each one does a great job in what it is trying to do.
But...regardless, I have driven both and I can assure you, the Vanquish S is faster
