Teleaid

Activated my free year's worth of Teleaid today. This is my first experience with Teleaid, and one feature I thought was cool was that they would call you if your alarm goes off and be able to track your car if it gets stolen. Almost like a psuedo-LoJack.

Trying to decide if the additonal $210 "luxury" upgrade option is worth it...I would def. take advantage of the phone capabilities of that option (dial-out only, unlimited minutes), but not sure if the other features are worth it. Any have experience with this upgrade? Worth it?

630 miles so far, and I have one dirty black car. Zaino products arrived yesterday, just need to find the time to use it!

Steven, I was told that if you upgrade your Teleaid package from the "standard" to the "luxury" one, it gives you the feature of being about to place calls from your car. Unlimited minutes, international calls; outgoing calls only. Push the "i" button in your SL, and I'm sure the operator can give you a better description than I can.

And up thru Nov 1, 2005, you would have been 100% correct. I used it quite a bit, and never for more than a 5 minute call three of four times a week.

Well, MBUSA decided to cancel this feature and sent me a letter recently telling me so.. I posted about it on W211 just a few days ago.

bottom line, I decided to drop the extra package and just pay-per use on the directions, and traffic alerts since the unlimited calling disappeared.

They are graciously giving me a full refund as such.

Wow, I just activated yesterday, and they never mentioned this Nov 1 expiration!! By your accounts, it seems like it was a very worthwhile option. I have 90 days to decide if I want this....I may have to call them up again and ask about the Novi 1st date.

Was the call directly placed from your merc (as if you had the cell phone option), or did you have to place a call first to teleaid and then have them transfer you?

It was placed "Conference style" by them, and they had to stay on the line. This is what their excuse to delete the program was btw.. as they said some users (not me) were using it to make 45minutes calls and tying up an agent for that whole time... to which I said, why not just have the agent go onto the next customer?

nevertheless... I was a big proponent of this service, and even tried to get some guys here (via an older thread) to try it... but those idiots at MBUSA didn't want to fix it, so they got rid of it!

If you were counting on it, you may just want to go back to the basic package and pay per use for the premium stuff, as that was the only one worth paying the extra $250 for.

Hrmm...they had to stay on the line? Wow, no privacy...the agent will be listening the whole time?

it's no big deal if you're not making a private call, and most of mine aren't... but it was nice to be able to have them.. look up a number, call the office/person and have you talk to them on speaker phone inside the car... I would have paid them $500 for that.. stupid idiots.
