Hi There

I have for some time been following your conversation on SL related topics, and I must admit that this forum is very appealing to me, since you (members ) are dealing with these cars very addictive and proffesional.

In the past i have done some racing, done a lot of engine tuning, both N/A, Supercharged and Turbocharged. ( biggest engine, 600cu", 3500 horses at 6500 revs.)

I am looking forward to participate in this forum, and I can only say:

MERCEDES SL ( R230) is the most beautiful car ever made, regardsless of model, although power dont hurt.

Welcome SL Charger.

How do you like that Touareg? I don't see many of them here in NJ but the reviews I've read have been real good.

Touareg

Hi Chris45971

Its an okay car. I had it chiptuned. Stock it has 313 BHP, and 950 lb/ft, and now 450 BHP, and 1360 lb/ft. If wheels can grab, it goes up a 45 degree hill, and on the freeway it tops at 151 MPH.

We have been in California, and drove a Lincoln Navigator, and these cars are very different. The Touareg is more firm in suspension ( air ride, surprised ? ), more direct feel in steering, more agile engine, although it is a petrol. Most of the god drivefeeling comes from the stiff chassis ( no frame ), and the independent suspension at each wheel. I did like the ride in the Navigator but I prefer my Touareg.

The car has never let me down, I have never get stuck with it ( it is great in the terrain ), and it has driven me through 3 feet of snow. It hauls like a tractor, and speeds like a sportscar.

I can only recomend it.

We have a T Reg also...it's a very well made and rugged vehicle with the nicest of the SUV interiors imho.

Welcome, and I agree with your opinion of the SL. Got any photos of yours and the T-Reg?

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Indeed the Touareg is a great car, and I am sorry to say that X5 is no match, either in terrain or on the road.

Have you seen the X5 LeMans prototype that BMW made ? 12 cylinder, over 700 horses, and roars like a Viper with no side pipes. Car has made track record on Nürburgring. 7min. 49Sec. on north course. This breaks the magic 8 min. mark.

I admit that THIS car i cant beat with my Touareg.

Check this out.

I will be back with some photos later ( Touareg is in Winter trim, so I will wait until spring when those fat wheels get on again ).

Have a nice day. :p

SLCharger, didn't VW have to stop importing the V10 because of emissions issues? Too bad if that is true.

Too bad, but it should do wonders for your resale value.
