It is damn sirious. There have been brakefailure because the software has errors, and also they add an extra cord from the box to the body.
This update is absolute nessesary.
Drive to the nearest MB dealer, they will update your car free of charge.

SBC "ground wire recall"- #2005-110001
I've just received this "ground wire/harness connection" Recall Campaign NOTICE regarding my 2003 Launch Edition SL 500 (with 48,000 miles.) I am taking into MB Service Center next week. (There was a previous SBC software recall about a year ago--quite a different matter.) If you lose (SBC) brake-by-wire capability, you always have hydraulic reserve--but you must apply tremendous pressure on pedal to stop vehicle.

04 SL500
This seems to be a different recall than the earlier brake one. My 03 SL500 was recently recalled for brakes - but looking at the web site my VIN number doesn't appear to be a paert of the latest recall.
I wonder why some 03 SL500's are being recalled (posted here) and others aren't.
