Consumer Electronics Offline
For the last couple of days I have been getting this error when i start up my 2003.
Consumer Electronics Offline.
I'm assuming that my battery is low and the system is shutting down the consumer electronics, but my stereo and lights still work...
has this happened to anyone else?

This happened to me on and off for about a year. It cropped up when I wouldnt drive it for a week when I went on vacation and only when it got real cold in the winter. It used to recharge right away after a short drive, but then it started getting worse and worse and I finally took it in. The shop replaced the starter battery and now all is OK.

Thanks Paul-
Ya, I had the starter battery replaced a few months back... I guess I'll hit up the dealership when i take it in for that break service recall.
it does seems to charge quickly. I haven't been driving it much so that might be the issue.
Thanks again!

Hey guyes take look at the thread " service battery life ? " I hope you will get e few anwsers there. Starter battery has nothing to do with consumer electronics.
May i surgest that you, who are not driving your car frequently, do buy a 3 or 4 stage/step charger, and connect it to the battery, while the car is in the garage. This will save you a lot of throuble, and a new battery.
NEVER USE A ORDINARY BATTERY CHARGER AS IT WILL RUIN THE BATTERY IF LEFT CONNECTED TO THE BATTERY FOR LONGER PERIODS.
In the US a suitebul charger can be purschased at : http://batterytender.com/product_info.php?products_id=2
In the GB it is Model 9640 at : www.cpc.co.uk. ( provided by BlueSL )
Good luck.
