Can the SL55 Back bumper Mesh Grill fit on a SL500?

I have an 04 SL500 and the back bumper has a solid black panel between the tailpipe. I would like to swap this out for the mesh grill that is on the SL55's back bumper. Has anyone tried this or happen to know if this will work?
I know the SL55 has two tailpipes on each side, so the mesh grill probably won't fit; however I'm tempted to blow the $400 buck to try it out.

No, the openings while they look the same at first glance are different.

The shapes are also different the biggest difference being at the exhausts.

Sorry..

you "can" make it work i suppose.. just have to do some cutting easy modification.. i'm sure a body shop could make it work..

actually they aren't.. they are a "little bigger" ..it does work, i've seen it before on an sl500.. you just have to modify it a little bit by cutting off the extension..

Won't work. SL55 openings are ~250mm wide, SL500 openings are ~165mm wide. You have to get quad, oval tips or else it'll look gheeeyyy.

i've seen two sl500s with it done up here.. they have quad tips with the mesh.. the mesh has to simply be molded and cut up a little bit to fit, but it works and looks oem if done right..
