SL600 sitting in open lot.
Our city's MB dealer has a million-dollar showroom for their new cars, and an open lot branch across the road. Sitting over there are some pretty nice vehicles, including a triple black 2004 SL600 equivalently priced at US$179,000.
What bugs me is that these are expensive cars in anyone's language - and the dealers are devaluing the brand by putting them in an open yard like Discount Joe down the road.
It's no different in our largest city either... there they have 1 and 2 year-old SL500's sitting out in the rain, just like any other Ma & Pa vehicle.
In my travels I've been to many cities round the world and never seen this before. Is it unique?

2006 SL 500
Same here in Southern California
SL's, new and used, just sit out in big parking lots at the 5 or 6 dealerships I've visited here in Southern California. It does seem odd because of their value but at the end of the day they're just cars and cars are expected to live in and survive in the outdoors.

A dealer in Burnaby has a warehouse where used cars are under cover. It seems more of a special treat to see the used cars all shiney under the lights.
I stoped in at the North Vancouver MB dealership yesterday and had the same reaction as Ken. A 2003 Agean Blue SL 500 just sitting out in thr rain with dust on it. It did not seem right.
Ken ... please write with your driving impressions on the R230 SL 600. I hve not been able to find a pre-owned one in Vancouver that I could test drive.
I want a full report on luxury appointments, standing start acceleration, highway passing power, twisty road handeling, etc. A tough assingnment !?

Around the country dealers have been building multi-story garages to house their inventory. This is especially true of areas where land costs are high and land is scarce. Leaving a 140k car in the sun and rain, bad idea no matter what.
