How to detail brake calipers?

My former Porsche 911 had glossy powder coatings on the brake calipers and I used to detail them by waxing which would make washing off the collected brake dust quite easy.

On my SL500 the brake calipers appear to have a matte grey finish from which wax may not be removable.

Any advice-is it OK to wax the SL500 brake calipers or do you have any other tips to keep them clean?

Thanks,

John

The Porsche calipers are powdercoated. The stock SL500 calipers are not. So there's really no way to get the same look on the stock SL500 calipers.

You will need to get the stock SL500 calipers powdercoated (waste of money) or you can get them painted using caliper paint.

Or...... you can get the stock SL500 brakes swapped out with the AMG brakes for a great price. The AMG brakes I believe are also powdercoated. Brembo F+R upgrade is also an option to, at a pretty penny.

I had my SL500 calipers painted black using the G2 caliper paint kit.

I'm not trying to get the SL500's calipers to look like the 911's. I'm requesting information on how to detail the SL500's calipers (in their present state) to minimize the hassle of removing brake dust.

Thanks,

John
