April 1, 2006 SBC recall noticed
I got my recall notice today and shock my head after I read the paragraph below. I went through a stop sign at 30 MPH and prayed that the car would stop. Of course the dealer could not find nothing wrong. The dealer said it may be a while before the car adapts to me because of the adaptive system. BS.
The SBC brake system in certain E-Class, SL-Class, and CLS vehicles, in certain instances, may shift to hydraulic back up mode due to loosening of the ground wire harness connection over time. In hydraulic backup mode, the driver has braking power sufficient to stop the vehicle, although greater brake pedal pressure is required and the rake pedal travel will be noticeably longer which could lead to a vehicle crash.

I received the same notice - dropped off the car at the dealer today so they can fix it. my service advisor also found two other outstanding "campaign" notices in the system to be addressed. these are like a recall - initiated by the manufacturer but not mandated by the U.S. Government like a recall. it needed to go in anyway to have the command unit fixed again since it failed and the glove box fixed again since it won't open anymore, etc., etc., etc.

I had to get my glovebox fix 3 times. The recall is for a bracket and ground wire replacement related to the SBC.

I took my 2003 in last month and as I recall when I looked at the slip, there was more than one brake recall fix applied. It didnt take them long to fix them.
But..the dealer did curb one of my newly refinished HREs and put a big gash in the tire which later blew on the drive home. The tires were only a week old.
It took me a few weeks to get them to pay me back.

They then had a guy come fix the centers on site. Still waiting for payment on the repairs I paid for....it's been NINE WEEKS OF DRAMA!!!
All this AFTER my service advisor told me 'Oh, we're not like Fletcher Jones...we please all of our customers.' HAH!
