Top down in the summertime?
Today was my first HOT (temperature ) day in my SL with the top down. It was actually only 75 degrees, but the sun's rays felt like 100 degrees. After a couple hours, I finally remembered that I have air-cooled seats and I turned those on. That helped quite a bit. But, I still baked in the sun in my car. Is it commonplace to drive with the top down when summertime mercury hits the 90-100 degree range? Or, do you put the top up and turn on the air conditioner? Just curious what others do.
In any case, it was an awesome day in my SL!

When the weather's hot, I usually wait 'til about 3pm or so to drop the top - late afternoon and early evening is a great time to have the top down when the temperature is warm.

SL500 and A-CLASS
I have the air on when my tops are down. Did you notice condensation on the vents? My SLK320 does not show any condensation when I drive with the air on and top down.
For some reason, I see a lot of condensation around the vents when I have the top down and air on the SL.

If the weather is warm enough and it doesn't rain, the top will be down. That's why we have a convertible
I have had ventilated seats in 3 cars (1 CL & 2 SL's) and have only found them to work well in the CL in combination with the AC. Since the AC is automatically throttled down on the SL when the top is down, I seem to feel the seats ventilation less. This is subjective though.

Top down, shades on, AC seats and AC full blast....or you get baked...especially in black...my last SL was black on black....in LA as well...... Hot as hell! My silver SL is a little better for those 100 degree days.

Erm, not really something I've had to consider. Heatwave here is 75c!
Maybe that's why there are more convertibles in the UK as it never gets too hot?

When I lived in London, our family would travel to my Father's business associate's vacation home in Scotland...Its so beautiful (but cold)...something about a SL in Scotland sounds intriguing to me.
Anyway now that I have the 3M tint, top up driving is oddly more fun for me...it just completes the look IMO.

I gotta say, either you guys are very delicate SL drivers or I am very young. I love the top down NO AC, and 95 outside. Just cruise or just speed and feel the wind. Its too much fun no matter how hot it is, but I must say I do use the ventilated seats when it gets over 100 F on the freeway.

ventilated seats
Changing a bit the subject, but since some of you have mentioned the ventilated seats. I will like some of you to tell me how it fells. I’m not sure mine are working, I’ll turn on the ventilation (yes, the blue lights come on) and I don’t fell anything. Just yesterday I was driving in this nice SC weather, top down put then on and did not fell any difference
Thank you
Thank you

Ventilated seats
I feel a slight movement of air, if I put my hand over the seats when the ventilation is on. I am using the ventilated seats every day now, since the weather has turned hot. They help keep me cool when I have the top down when the sun is really baking the inside of the car. I know there are some mixed reviews about them, but mine work well and keep me from getting sweaty in those leather seats. I have been impressed.
