I've had my 2006 SL500 since sunday. I pretty much love the car so far. It is my dream car and a large portion of my salary is going into the lease payments

Anyways, I can't get Nav to work. The MAP functionality works fine. This tells me: A) GPS works B) DVD is being read fine. But, when I hit settings on home, the voice says "Navigation not active". And when I hit destination entry, the screen with the alphabet comes on for a split second and then the screen goes back.

I asked tele-aid (since I have to call them once anyway) and he told me to eject the DVD and take it to a dealer if that didn't work. It didn't. Any ideas?

This happened to me. I took the car back to the dealer and they had to re-set de computer, it only took them 5 minutes

 

Before you take it in, try resetting it yourself. It is one of the COMAND menu options. If that doesn't work, bring it in to the shop.

Hello everyone! New owner and my first post.

This may be off topic but I just purchased a 2006 sl 500 and looked at the nav disk and it has 2005 date on it. I was wondering if this is the correct one or should I have a 2006 disk. A little help would be appreciated.

Your nav disk might just be a 2005 Revision of the maps.
That is just the date when the maps were updated, usually
they release two versions a year.

 

My disc is from 2005 also..
