Damage to RIMS

I had the dealer rebalance my tires, one rim looks like this. The black tapelike substance will come off, but the damage along side of it is into the finish. Should this be expected when removing the weights?

Unfortunately, that will happen as the adhesion from the wheel weight does tend to damage the clear coat on wheels. Hopefully most of it is hidden from the outer side.

I don't think that's from removing the weights, I think that's improper handling of the wheels.

StephenK and I talked about this in MSN.

Ouch! looks like they tried using a screwdriver trying to pry your tire back on.
I too, have very little confidence in dealers.

I had schwab put new tires on mine and when they spun that cone shaped hold down onto the center cap hole, it left a ring shaped scrape all the way around the center. Now it shows even w/ the caps in place. The next time I got tires I had to point it out to use the nylon hold down instead of the steel one. I recently took my truck in for a rotate and they dinged the centercaps w/ a screwdriver prying them off. Dangit! Now I remove my own center caps off the truck, and babysit the benz. Too fast, too careless, and I get to drive the mistake home.
