SL500 and A-CLASS
my first brake job on my SL

I got the brake pad warning on my SL. So I took my SL in today to get the brake-warning fix. My car has about 22,300 miles, and I though it would cost a lot because of what I read on this forum.

I was shock to get a bill for less than $184. That is the cost to replace the rear pads. I was puzzled because I thought the front pads would wear faster than the rear, but the dealer said it is common for the rear pads to wear faster than the front on the SL.

Tiggerfink,

Don't know what I'm more surprised about - less than $184 or rear pads!

rear brakes are working to stop tire spin. this will wear the pads in the back faster.

I think that is right on par pricewise. When I got my CL brakes done, they were 1200 for brakes and rotors, front and rear.
I know the rotors were the expensive thing....
The pads weren't much, it's the labor that was most of that.
