SL500 oil change

is it possible to use an "oil extractor" to do an oil change on an 06 SL500 without jacking the car up. Seeing as the car has no dipstick I'm wondering where you insert the tube to remove the oil-the oil filter housing maybe?

Yes it is possible, and it works great. There is actually a dipstick tube with a dummy plug (usually a red plug). I was very skeptical about using this method at first, but another member did it with good results, so I tried with a Mityvac #7201 pump (8.8 liter) and it got all the oil out. On these cars, with the filter on top, you could do this in a business suit.

There is a recent thread in the std. W220 forum. It's on the second page. Sorry, but I don't know how to link a thread. It's labeled "04 S55 diy oil change" by Holycowe.

Personnally, I would recommend using factory filters and Mobil 1 0-40.
The factory filter looks quite a bit different than the ones he shows in his thread, and I only paid $20.00 for it.

I will use this method to do in between changes and let the dealer do the scheduled changes.

Good luck!
